Dr. Darling gave presentations to the
citizens of Barre, Vermont at the
venerable Aldrich Public Library where he studied as a child.
Dedicated on September 22, 1908, the library was built with money from the
estate of Leonard Frost Aldrich. Granite from
the renowned Barre granite industry was used extensively in its
construction, including in the entrance with its two huge polished
columns, steps, and delicately-carved frieze depicting "The Passing of the
Torch of Learning."
After his speech to the citizens of Barre, Dr. Darling met
with FAIR Foundation members who had received liver transplants and called
Coma Life
their Bible as they waited for a life-saving organ donation. These members
traveled from North Carolina, Canada, VT, NY and Vermont and other close
friends also attended.
